About Dr Sheldon

Dr. William R. Sheldon, Jr. is board certified in Endocrinology & Metabolism, as well

as Internal Medicine. He received his undergraduate degree with honors from the

University of Texas in Austin in 1974, and was selected for membership in Phi Beta

Kappa Honor Society. He graduated from Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas,

in 1978. Post-graduate residency training was at the University of Oklahoma, where he

was Chief Resident of Internal Medicine. His Endocrinology fellowship was at

Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. He has been in private practice since

1984, and in solo private practice in the greater Dallas area since 1995.

 

Service to the nation and community has been a valued priority for Dr. Sheldon. He

volunteered for the United States Army in 1987 and he saw duty in Korea. He has served

as Co-Director of the Diabetes Treatment Centers of America. He was Chief of Diabetes

Education at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington. After moving to

Dallas, Texas in 1995, he was elected President of the Dallas Internist Club. He was

Privileged to serve as Chief of Staff at RHD Hospital in 2001.

 

Sandy and Jennifer are Dr. Sheldon’s certified medical assistants. Each has worked in Dr.

Sheldon's medical office for over five years, and they both have had special training in

diabetes education. Janis has worked as the office manager since 1995. Dr. Sheldon and

Janis have been married since 1977, and they have three grown daughters.
